She laughed and took another bite of the ice cream. She was silent for some time, but her smile told the world that everything was ok. Soon though, that smile faltered and she just started staring at the table, completely oblivious to the world, completely lost in thought.

Zack was scooping up more ice cream when he noticed that Kaylee seemed to be thinking about something. After a pausing for a moment, he asked, "What are you thinking about?"

"Zack, I..." She started. No, you idiot, not now... "Nevermind... It's nothing." Kaylee tried to put on a fake smile, but it didn't work. Instead she looked away.

Zack, thinking he knew what she was going to say, reached out to put his hand over hers. Then, after thinking of another thing she could have been trying to say, he hurriedly jerked his hand back. "S-sorry... You were going to say that your friends were going to start wondering where you were if you didn't regroup with them, right?" Zack asked, hoping he was wrong.

Her heart lept up to her throat when his hand touched hers. It almost made her feel warm inside. However she was stunned, so she just stared at her hand for the longest time. "No, that wasn't what I was going to say." She started, unable to lie to him. "B-but they will be worried. I should get going. See you at the beach?"

Zack's spirits lifted as he became even more sure he was right with his first guess. He gave a thumbs up. "I'll be there," he reassured her.

A smile lit up Kaylee's face as she got up. "Then I'll see you soon." She said, giving him a hug before turning to leave.

He returned the hug when he was given it, and then watched as she left. He sat there for a moment, lost in thought, before finally, it dawned on him that he had a gummi ship that still needed to be built. He paid the bill and left the restaurant, thinking of how he would design his ship.
