"I-I left that up to Kaylee." She replied in a shaky voice, but a confident tone. "She was afraid of what might happen if we told you. I told her you would want to know but she didn't listen. So I left it up to her to prevent me from having two of my closest friends angry at me. Since ya'll are all I've got right now."

A uncharacteristically shy smile came to Alex's face. "She's in her room. I'll go get her. But uh, you might want to at least put pants on." She suggested with a sheepish laugh.

No later than thirty seconds had Alex left Ray was out of his room, awaiting the girls in the living room.

Kaylee came down stairs, already looking worried. Alex came down after her and headed to the kitchen, to give Ray and Kaylee a bit of privacy, but so that she could still hear.

Kaylee approched Ray, avoiding eye contact. "Alex said you wanted to talk to me?"

"I... I was afraid you might go after him... you are powerful, thats for sure... but you are no match for him... not yet..." She stammered, trying not to shed any tears.

"I know I know..." She said with a flinch. "I was just afraid... I'm sorry, Ray..." Then she couldn't stop herself. One singal tear slithered it's way down her face as she stared at the ground between their feet.

She couldn't even answer, only managed to nod yes. She never meant to upset Ray, only keep him safe. Not harm intended. There was harm, and Ray was upset and that was upsetting her, making her angry at herself. All she wanted was to keep her friend safe, and all she did was cause him pain.
